WHAT IF #14: What If Mary Said No to the Angel?

Picture it—
Gabriel shows up with the wildest news ever:
“You’ll carry the Son of God.”

And Mary says,
“…No thanks.”

No Magnificat.
No Bethlehem birth.
No “Be it unto me.”

Would God have chosen another?
Probably.
But history would’ve forgotten Mary’s name—
and the honor would’ve passed her by.

The Alternate Ending

She could’ve clung to her plans.
Her reputation.
Her comfort.
Maybe married Joseph quietly,
had kids,
lived an ordinary life.
Safe.
Small.

But obedience made her eternal.

The Reality Check

Saying “yes” didn’t make life easier.
It made it harder.
Whispers in Nazareth.
Birth in a stable.
A sword piercing her soul.

Obedience isn’t convenient—
but it’s always worth it.

Why This Hits Home

What costly “yes” is God asking of you?
The one that could mess up your comfort zone
but open up a future bigger than your imagination?
