WHAT IF #8: What If Jesus Had Come Down From the Cross?

Picture this:
The nails tear through His hands.
The crowd mocks:
“If You’re the Son of God, come down!”
And He… does.

Imagine the gasp.
Roman soldiers drop their spears.
The Pharisees choke on their pride.
And every skeptic bows—instantly convinced.

The Alternate Ending

Jesus steps down.
The suffering stops.
The pain ends.

But so does redemption.
Our sins? Unpaid.
The story? Broken.

Power without purpose is just performance.
And Jesus wasn’t there to prove a point—He was there to pay a price.

The Reality Check

He could have called angels.
He could have crushed Rome with a whisper.
Instead, He stayed.
Not because He lacked power…
…but because love required endurance.

This is what divine restraint looks like—strength that chooses suffering for the sake of salvation.

Why This Hits Home

Sometimes the greatest display of power is the refusal to use it.
When we can clap back, walk away, or crush an enemy—but choose grace instead—
we look a little like Him.

Reflect & Respond

📜 Scripture to Meditate:
Matthew 27:42 – “He saved others…but He can’t save Himself!”

🙏 Personal Prayer:
“Lord, help me choose love over proving myself. Teach me strength through surrender.”

✍ Journal Prompt:
Where am I tempted to “prove a point” instead of fulfilling God’s purpose?
